But what if I don’t want to upgrade?

So at 6pm this evening iOS 6 went live and no doubt plenty of people raced to upgrade. Not me though as I had already decided that there wasn’t anything in it for me. Flyover view in the new Maps app would be fine if I have a helicopter but I am at ground level and find street view useful so Google Maps is a must. Also I have Siri switched off so there is no need to upgrade for that. So all in all there’s not much there for me.

I went to update my apps this evening and there was tons to do including several from Apple, such as iMovie and iPhoto. Problem was that on these tow the update button was greyed. It took me a while to work out that this was because they require iOS6, which is fine but now I am going to constantly have App Store notifications reminding me to update apps that I can’t update, which is hugely frustrating.

If I am honest I cannot think of a way around this as Apple would say, quite rightly, that it will act as a prompt to some to do the update – as if iTunes nagging isn’t enough, but I do wish I could turn it off. Hum, maybe I should delete the apps – that would sort it!
