AppSwing Limited Receives Strategic Investment from Citrix Systems

AppSwing Limited, a leading developer of mobility middleware solutions for extending applications to wireless handheld devices, announced today it has received a strategic investment from Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions. Privately-held AppSwing will use the funding to further develop and market its flagship AppServer™ solution, which enables mobile workers to seamlessly access Windows-based enterprise applications through the browser of any wireless handheld device. In conjunction with the investment, AppSwing has appointed Keith Turnbull, vice president of development for Citrix, to its Board of Directors.

PDAs and Smartphones play an increasingly vital role in everyday business, and with AppSwing’s unique solution enterprises can quickly and simply extend the reach of existing line of business applications to these devices. AppServer dynamically transforms application interfaces to HTML and XML in real-time, allowing slices of the application to be re-factored for delivery to the browser of smaller Web-enabled handheld devices.

“AppSwing has differentiated itself by enabling existing applications to be extended to mobile handsets without developing invasive connectors or databases queries or the need to modify application code. As a result, AppServer delivers secure mobile solutions at an exceptional speed creating significant cost benefits and a rapid return-on-investment,” said AppSwing Chief Executive Officer Arthur Morris. “In concert with Citrix access infrastructure solutions, AppSwing’s AppServer technology allows users to securely access data and applications from any wireless handheld device, providing an innovative solution for complete mobility.”

“Citrix takes a broad, long-term view of the access infrastructure market, continually evaluating opportunities for technological innovation, partnerships and licensing agreements, and investment and acquisition opportunities,” said Keith Turnbull, vice president of development at Citrix. “The work AppSwing is doing is opening up a tremendous opportunity to corporate IT departments that need to support an increasing variety of wireless devices and remote connections for their employees. Citrix’s investment in AppSwing signals a fundamental backing of both its business model and the applicability of its mobile solutions in the greater access infrastructure marketplace.”
